How long does it take?
The production time for a PhD is 5 working days. We can speed this up if you wish, but you must contact us.
Can I pick up my printed PhDs somewhere in Leuven?
You can pick up your PhDs at the Peeters Bookstore, Bondgenotenlaan 153, 3000 Leuven or you can pick them up at Peeters Publishers, Kolonel Begaultlaan 61, 3012 Leuven. You can also opt for a delivery to your home. If your order is for € 700 or more, delivery is free.
What is the minimum print run?
The minimum print run is 10 copies. The unit price decreases as the print run increases and vice versa.
Can I try out the website without any obligation?
Of course, requesting a quote does not commit you to anything. If you have your pdf's checked for correctness, this will also be free of charge. The ordering process is only started when you click on “order”.
Can I have a proof made first?
When you order a PhD, you will receive a digital proof by e-mail (pdf). We only print your doctorate when we have received a 'good to print' confirmation.
Can I have my doctorate printed afterwards?
Yes, just repeat the procedure with the correct pdf's. Please note that the minimum print run is 10 copies. The more PhDs you have printed simultaneously, the cheaper the price per copy.
ISBN and dissemination
Will my PhD be given an ISBN number? What are the benefits?
We can assign an ISBN number, so that the PhD is registered and protected by copyright. Assigning an ISBN number to your PhD will facillitate additional distribution opportunities.
What does it cost?
The price of your PhD depends on the number of copies, the size, the type of paper and the total number of pages and whether or not they are printed in colour. You can request a personal quotation via this website. This is completely without obligation.
How is payment made?
You can pay online immediately. Iff you still want an invoice, you have to indicate this and it will be made up after the delivery of the books. This can then be paid by bank transfer.
What quality should my images have?
It is possible that an image that looks good on screen may look bad in print. This has to do with the resolution of the image. Make sure that images always have a resolution of 200 dpi in real size. It is not possible to enlarge an image that is too small in a photo editing program.
If you look at the pdf of your thesis at a size of 300 %, this gives a good indication of what the images will look like in print. In the free “pdf check” we will always notify you if there are images in a low resolution. You can then change these images or leave them if you don't find any other better.
Which paper types to use?
For our PhDs we can use three types of paper:
1) Course paper 80g (course paper). This paper will not discolor as it ages because it does not contain a lot of wood fibers. This type of paper is very suitable for books with text and color illustrations.
2) Bulk Paper. This type of paper is very suitable for books with text, without high-quality photos or detailed images. The paper is also less white, which makes reading more comfortable.
3) Coated Paper (90/150 gr Machine coated). This paper is smoother than course paper. Because of its smooth surface, this coated paper is very suitable for printing books and brochures containing detailed text (e.g., diacritics) or color images.
For the cover we use a solid one-sided coated sulphate board of 280g. The cover is also laminated for extra protection. If you prefer a glossy or moderately lamination, please give us a call.
In what format should I submit my doctorate?
You can format and deliver your PhD in 17x24 cm or 16x24 cm format, but you don't have to. If the text is in A4 format, we will resize your thesis to the right format for printing. The digital proof you receive will already be in the correct format.
What do you mean by sewn PhDs?
This is an additional process that we undertake to ensure that the printed PhD is more solid and sustainable. A sewn doctoral thesis opens nicely and stays open, so as to prevent breakage of the book’s spine and loosening of the pages. This additional process is always carried out for PhDs.
